NW (Nordic Walking) in NW (Northwestern) Colorado

Routt County program to introduce Nordic Walking to the state's northwestern region

I cheer (hooray!) whenever I learn of new Nordic Walking classes, and I cheer more loudly (HOORAY!!) whenever I learn of another here in Colorado. My cheers for a Routt County healthy-aging and wellness program's enthusiasm for walking in general might have loud enough to be heard in northwestern Colorado. The county's Aging Well program is planning to offer beginning and advanced-level walking classes in Steamboat Springs, and possibly Hayden and South Routt County, including Nordic Walking.

Marti Irish, a physical therapist, avid cross-country skier and Nordic Walker, is expected to facilitate a Nordic Walking class as part of Steamboat Springs' Aging Well program. The class will include warm ups, stretches and other exercises, and will be aimed at physically fit individuals. Irish plans to utilize trails in the Sanctuary and lower Howelsen Hill Ski Area. Details about classes in Routt County still are being finalized. For more information about or helping as a volunteer, call 970-871-7606.
